Shopping Cart Problems
( Other ways to order our books )

1.  The most common problem is not allowing cookies to be set on your computer. You must allow cookies which enables the shopping cart to keep track of your purchases while you maneuver through the site, add to and remove from the shopping cart, etc. If you do not allow cookies, the shopping cart will not work correctly and you will have problems adding, recalculating, and/or removing items from the cart.

Solution:
Set your browser's preferences to allow cookies to be set. You may later change it back to not accept cookies or delete any cookies set on your machine if you wish.  

For I.E. you would:

A) Open Tools
B) Internet Options
C) Security Tab
D) Custom Level

1. Enable "Allow cookies to be stored on your computer"  

2. At this time, customers using IE 5.00 or older and Netscape/AOL Web browsers 4.50 and older will receive warnings of an invalid or expired certificate or will not be able to process an order at all. It is not the Garrett Publishing certificate which is expired or invalid, but that the QuickSSL Web Server Certificate issued by GeoTrust is not compatible with older browsers.

 

QuickSSL is a Web server certificate that allows consumers and Web sites to conduct safe eCommerce with encrypted SSL connections. QuickSSL Web server certificates are compatible with Microsoft Internet Explorer® 5.01 and higher and Netscape/AOL Web browsers version 4.51 and higher, comprising an estimated 90% or more of all Web browsers in use on the Internet.

Solution:
A) You can still process you order and it will be secure. Just make sure you see the padlock icon in the lower left portion of your computer screen and it is closed as opposed to open. This indicates the information is being sent via a secure server.

 

 

 

B) You can upgrade your browser to IE or Netscape version 5.xx, or higher. 3 . If your browser settings are not set to the strongest allowable encryption (128 bit), you will not be able to submit an order or view the secure checkout page. Garrett Pubishing's shopping cart uses the strongest encryption allowed by law in order to process sensitive information securely. 

Solution:

In I.E., reset your encryption capabilities as follows:
A)   Tools
B)    Internet Options
C)    Advanced Tab
D) Under "Security" - make sure the following are checked:
                    1. Use Fortezza
                     2. Use PCT 1.0
                     3. Use SSL 2.0
                     4. Use SSL 3.0
                     5. Use TLS 1.0

4.    Another common problem is the failure to supply all the needed information in order to process the order. Also, remember that your name, address and zip code must match EXACTLY what the credit card company has on file or your card will be rejected. If the credit card company has on file that your address is "202 S.W. Second Avenue" - you cannot use "202 Southwest 2nd Ave." and vice versa. This is to help protect you against fraudulent use of your card.


Solution:
Go back and make sure that every field with an * is completed and that the e-mail field is in the correct format, i.e. myname@mycompany.com. Also check to be sure your name and address match your credit card EXACTLY.

5. Any finally, there are times when there are problems with the Internet itself and other times when our site may be experiencing problems due to our constantly updating files.

Solution:
It's best to just try again in 15 minute intervals.
